Plate 38
The question, "where should we eat tonight", has many variables. Are there any happy hours or daily specials around? Will our young daughter be joining us and if so, will she be welcomed or will people give us dirty looks? What style of food sounds good? What kind of drinks do we want? Do they have brunch? How much is this going to cost me? The answer and solution to every one of these questions has been Plate 38.

The talented Executive chef Job Carder has a constantly evolving menu with a handful of constant classics. The daily creations are based off of what is in season and will be written on a chalkboard in the main dining room. There is also a very nice heated patio open year round.
Overall, this is one of our favorite restaurants in Pasadena and we recommend it highly. We have literally been here more than 50 times in the past year.

Favorites- The truffle burger is incredible and may be the best I've had in LA. Served on a brioche bun with truffle cheese and caramelized onions with a dill pickle spear on the side. The duck confit chicken wings are also amazing because they are fall off the bone tender on the inside (thanks to the confit style slow cooking) with a crispy and spicy outside. They are served with a rich blue cheese mousse. The bone marrow platter is beautiful and delicious. The focaccia is also a must have, especially for the price. The ribeye steak is one of the best I've had. Unfortunately, my 3 year old daughter almost ate the entire steak before I got a bite!
Duck confit chicken wings with blue cheese mousse
Oysters with lemon ponzu and horseradish
Steamed mussels and clams with lemon grass and IPA broth
Bone marrow
Veal meatballs with Kalamata olives, pine nuts, English peas, pecorino and mushrooms
Angel hair pasta pomodoro
Pappardelle with meatballs
Truffle burger
